Mine! Mine! Mine!

Two-year-olds are by nature possessive. Bethie is no exception. At the start of our school day, we recite a verse of scripture. We do a different scripture every month. Beth's favorite is the one from January: "All of you are children of the Most High" (Psalms 82:6). She can recite it with very little prompting. One day, Ammon decided to quote all of the scriptures we've learned so far this year. When he recited Psalms 82:6, Bethie got angry. She said, "That MY 'cripture, Ammon." She was very sad and upset.

We always sing before we read the scriptures in the evening. One night, Chris started singing "I am a child of God" with the kids. Bethie had a fit. "That MY I Child God!!!"

Someday Beth will learn about missionary work and sharing the things she loves. Until then, we will allow her to "own" her scripture and her song. There are a lot worse things she could be throwing fits about...

Today Ryan gave me a hug while saying, "Mine, mine, mine Mommy." Once again, something it's okay for him to possess.
