We have kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates that we are subject to while we are on this earth. We enjoy great freedoms in this land, but we still have to abide by the laws created by human beings--humans who are typically doing the very best they can. When Christ comes again, those who have power in this world will recognize that they are nothing in comparison with the King of kings.
"These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful" (Revelation 17:14).
"And this shall be the sound of his trump...for every ear shall hear it, and every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall confess, while they hear the sound of the trump, saying: Fear God, and give glory to him who sitteth upon the throne, forever and ever" (Doctrine and Coveants 88:104).
Because Christ is a perfect being, He is a perfect King and His rule will be perfect. We can experience part of that in this life as we obey His commandments. The Lord, who loves us, blesses us with commandments so we can know how to act before Him. As the Lord was telling His righteous saints the ways He would bless them, He said, "And they shall also be crowned with blessings from above, yea, and with commandments not a few, and with revelations in their time—they that are faithful and diligent before me" (Doctrine and Covenants 59:4).
Obeying Jesus Christ's commandments is a blessing to us because He is a righteous king. When we really learn to love the Lord, obeying and serving Him becomes a pleasure, not a burden. There are certain commandments I have obeyed from my youth, thanks to the teachings of my parents. The older I get, the more I understand how these commandments are blessings. I don't have to wait for a blessing to come; the blessing is found in the obeying.
Jesus Christ is mighty and glorious. He truly is a King beyond anyone who has ever held any degree of power on this earth. I look forward to His return.
