Bored?

I tried to word this creatively, as if it were a late-night infomercial, but that didn't work. So, you get the boring version.

Ammon has come up with a solution to boredom. It is called The What To Do Dartboard, or something like that. He hangs it on a magnetic surface, like the door, and throws magnet-darts at it. Wherever they land, that's what he does. Here, take a look.

As you can plainly see, there are quite a variety of activities to choose from...or to be randomly chosen by the dart. The circles around the perimeter stand for the following: WM: watch movie; D: design things; CK: call Keenan; B: Bionicles; P: play; WP: watch PBS. The target (from outside to perimeter) says Draw, Take a nap, Read a book, Legos, and the bullseye is a big G for Garfield! (either garfield.com or reading a Garfield comic book).

Ammon actually uses this dartboard and I think it is quite inventive and handy.

We ought to patent this one.

You remember his Snuggie™ that he loves so much?

The logical step now...the SNUGGLE: for really close families.

It's a very big Snuggie™ with 4 or 6 or 8 armholes. That way, many family members can wear the thing, snuggle in close, and stay warm.

Simply happy

A friend invited me to read their family blog today. So, being an overachiever, I read the entire blog history. Luckily, they haven't been blogging for long and her blentries are more about pictures than lengthy, wordy words like mine. :) My point? Yes, I have one. She had one entry that included this quote from Winnie Dalley:

"A house does not have to be perfect to be a home of joy, a child does not have to behave perfectly to love and be loved, and every moment of life does not have to be perfect to be of value. Too often, I realize, we fail to see the glorious reality of the simple joy that abounds in the seemingly mundane routine of day-to-day living. Instead, we tend to idolize the past, idealize the future, and devalue the present. We complain abundantly, we worry too much, and we appreciate too little. We forget Amulek’s exhortation to “live in thanksgiving daily, for the many mercies and blessings which [God] doth bestow upon” us (Alma 34:38), as well as Alma’s counsel to “let [our] heart be full of thanks unto God” (Alma 37:37). What better way to show our appreciation to Heavenly Father for what we have than to embrace our lives, albeit “ordinary” and “unexciting,” with joy?"

Tonight Ammon used a large-ish word. Then he said, "Why do I know so many big words? Like egotistical and arrogant."

New windows

Today, we are getting new windows. It's not my house, you know, it's my parents'. But nevertheless, the window guys are here and the kids are EXCITED by all the activity and by the new, crystal clear windows. I looked out the front window to check on the children and they all saw me and came running over. Nathan started trying to converse with me through the window.

Nathan: "Hi Mom!"
Me: *wave*
Nathan: "Mom, how's your day going?"
Me: *thumbs up*
Nathan: "Say something to me!"
Me: "Hi Nathan."
Nathan: "Can't you say something else?"
Me: *shakes head no*
Nathan: "Can't you say 'I love you'?"
Me: *oh, yeah!* I LOVE YOU!
