Thanksgiving is possible only for those who take time to remember;
no one can give thanks who has a short memory.

I am grateful for family traditions. When I was growing up, we had lots of important traditions associated with holidays. But we also had little traditions for more common day things. Like this: every time one of us lost a tooth, my dad would not just give us Tooth Fairy money, he would write us a little silly poem about our tooth. I found this entertaining and decided to carry it on with my children. Unfortunately, I do not have my father's quick wit. My little boy is sleeping with a tooth under his pillow and I can't get past this line: There once was a boy with a smile... I thought "smile" would be easier than "Nathan" for the rhyming. I've got pile, while, mile, ugh. I tried to chat on FB with my brother or sister-in-law because they can come up with rhymes like nothing. In fact, had any of my siblings been online, I could have used their help. Maybe I'll check again.
In the meantime, even though it's stressing me out right now, typically I'm thankful for these fun little family traditions.
